These stroopwafels are absolutely delicious and are flown from the Netherlands! They remind me of good times when my sister and I were much younger. We baked delicious pastries to make some extra money. We produced sheets and sheets of cookies, napoleons, chocolate cakes, puffs, you name it. We made them all from scratch and without following any particular recipes, because that’s how our grandma taught us to bake. Because of the intense hundred degree heat outdoors and lack of air conditioning, we had to bake at night. We were usually done by around 4:30 A.M. just in time to walk a few blocks and get our fresh milk. We would then rest for a couple of hours and by 9 A.M. we were busy decorating our cakes, packing them and delivering them to our local coffee shop. I remember that our friends and neighbors were amazed that we always had some freshly baked goods on our table. Little did they know how little sleep we got during those months. My sister was tutoring younger students, while I was studying, cooking meals and cleaning all before our nightly baking cycle would start anew. Those were the years and, in a way, I miss them…
